How To Build The Perfect Oatmeal Bowl

STEP 1 - OATMEAL BASE

The first step to creating an EPIC oatmeal bowl, is to *drumroll please* have a damn good oatmeal base! Yes, it’s shocking, I know. But having a sad and dreary base underneath any toppings just makes for a boring breakfast. So besides starting the day off with a yummy cup of Mylk Labs oatmeal, here is my recipe for creamy oatmeal that I make almost every morning!

Creamy & Dreamy Oatmeal:

½ cup oats

½ ripe mashed banana

1 cup water

1 tsp flaxseed or chia seeds

STEP 2 - FRUIT TOPPINGS

The next step, I believe, is equally as important as step 1. Without any fruit on top of your oatmeal, you are just left with a sad puddle of oats. And we don’t roll that way, so make sure you have some fresh or frozen fruit to make that oatmeal POP! Any fruit that you enjoy will do, but I’m gonna list a few of my regulars!

Favorite fruit toppings:

  • Banana
  • Berries (fresh or frozen)
  • Kiwi
  • Apple
  • Pear
  • Plum
  • Peaches
  • Nectarines

STEP 3 - CRUNCH & NUT BUTTER

Once you have established a good base and fruit combination, I think the final step can bring your oatmeal bowl from good, to FANTASTIC. Having some kind of texture in your breakfast bowl can really add more depth, flavor, and honestly just more fun!

Favorite toppings:

  • Peanut butter
  • Almond butter
  • Cashew butter
  • Peanuts
  • Almonds
  • Coconut flakes
  • Cacao Nibs
  • Granola
  • Cashews
  • Hazelnuts
  • Pepitas
  • Sunflower Seeds

And you’re done! Now you have a delicious base, pile of juicy fruit, and crunchy and creamy toppings to start off a kick-ass morning. What I love most about this recipe is that it is so customizable, and every time you make it it will be different! So don’t worry, oatmeal is ANYTHING but boring.
